    PCB design lecture: how to reduce the influence of PCB stray capacitance?

     When referring to electronic circuits on PCBA, the term often used is stray capacitance. Stray capacitance may exist between conductors on PCB, prefabricated circuit boards of passive components, pcba, boards with installed components, and SMD component kits in component packaging (especially IC). Stray capacitance is one of the inherent physical properties of electronic circuits and circuit boards. So how to reduce the influence of PCB stray capacitance?     PCB design method for reducing PCB stray capacitance

    1. Remove inner ground plane

    In PCB design, because the grounding layer will increase the capacitance with adjacent conductors due to its proximity, it is helpful to delete the inner grounding layer to increase the distance, which will minimize the capacitance effect. This must be weighed against the benefits of minimizing EMI when the ground plane is adjacent to the signal plane.

    2. Use Faraday shield

    Faraday shield is a ground trace or plane placed between two traces, and the PCB is designed to minimize the capacitive effect between them. Like other shielding structures, it can effectively reduce stray capacitance.

    3. Increase the space between adjacent traces

    Another effective mitigation technique is to increase the spacing between adjacent traces in PCB design. As the capacitance decreases with the increase of distance, this is a very good method that can be applied.

    4. Minimize the use of vias

    Through hole is the key element to make compact and Complex PCB possible. However, overuse may increase parasitic capacitance problems. For example, stray capacitance. This PTH coupling can be reduced by eliminating the annular ring around the via on the unconnected layer and minimizing the number of via from the component through the PCB design.
